Iver Tvedt was a Civil War Veteran.   In 1855 he purchased 80 acres of land from the Milwaukee Land Co. in section 21 of Palestine township.  It cost approximately $1.25 and acre.  In 1898 Iver’s daughter and son in-law Nels Sydnes purchased it and lived there for 43 yrs. It is still owned by the family of Tilmer Sydnes, who purchased it from his father December of 1960 he too is now deceased.

Melinda B: 1868 D: 1950 M: 1896 Tomas Olson D:1906Children: Maurine, Viola D: Teens, Ruth (Helvig) D: 1963, Gladys (Eveland) Guy and Walter.  Guy and Walter worked together for 47 yrs as mechanics and were honored as such April 26, 1981.

Bertha B: 1869 D: 1947 M: 1898 Nels Sydnes 9 Children: Two boys D: in Minnesota. Tilmer, Melvin, Myrtle, Irene (Carlson), Pearl (Parker), Mildred (Shafer) and Myrma (Hanson). The family lived in Nobles Co. Minn for forteen years and returned to Iowa in 1916.  In 1917 they purchased the Tvedt farm where they lived for 43 yrs.
